No e-s since last posting, but moderate tropo cx have given my first peak into the Bundesrepublik, with perhaps R NORA, Westerland as best result this far. (1 kw) Seems like sea-reflection is a good thing - only water between here and Sylt.

2) CH Tsjerniakiv, UKR 525 with verification letter+postcard from Kiev

Log update: The 11. of June gave an allright E-skip towards the Adriatic, and I also managed to ID some stations! Incredible? Maybe I will send some reports...
Today I had some time to DX, with the brand new ATS-909, which is a very good FM receiver ! Almost all DR-regionals were logged + several near radio stations. Also Schleswig_holstein appeared with two transmitters near the DK border.

My HELLO! goes to Kai S. Salvesen and his wife Signe, who came to visit us in Kristiansand yesterday. Kai is also DX-er, and is a clever fellow in many ways. His interest used to be AM pirates, but now more widespread, like broadcast in Esperanto !

Also cards from AIR Ranchi and AIR Jammu, can´t remember the frequencies at time of writing, but SW of course!

FM-log is increasing, most Danish near radio/ chains, but also Sweden and particularly Göteborg area is heard well. City 107.3 is a powerhouse of 1000w..Denmark not further south than Randers this far.

Hello in the rain !

Very good FM opening yesterday ! Mainly Italy and Spain and some Balkan too...I had to go to work at apprx 1415 MESZ, but managed to get quite a few logs. Unstabile peaks, and only short bursts of radio. Best logs probably Maxi Radio, Ljubomer, Slovenia(90.0 MHz) and Radio Koprivnica, Croatia on 91.7 Mhz.

One QSL last week;

Pirate/NL: Technische Man, Ruurlo 1655 card,letter,info in one month.

The sporadic e-cx improved on Saturday 28., and Italia + presumed Greek stns came on. Only one ID: R Macomer Centrale 89.3 MHz. Many UNIDs.
There were tendencies also Sunday - but no time to listen.
I have started exploring the FM-band here, and the first Swedes are heard....hoping for a BIG tropo now ! Some near radio also received from neighbouring areas. Not Danish near radio yet..

Today a QSL-letter came from pirate R Waves International,11401 kHz. Two weeks time, letter,QSL-letter,playlist and two cds !

Yesterday an e-skip occured, at first from a1730 Mesz and to apprx 1900. I was so annoyed,being busy waiting for our new bed to come, so I ran back and forth and just had to forget dxing,aaargh....
The standby frequency was 87.6, and both Poland and a Russian (Belorussian,Ukrainan?) was heard. I have to find my md soon! Also pop-ups for short moments on 88.4,89.5,89.9 etc. Very frustrating hours....but still fun !

Just returned from beautiful Setesdalen, a picturesque valley at its best now in May. Weather was nice, and the sky was blue..
Tried some FM tuining, and logged lots of NRK FM-transmitters and also Valle-Bykle Radio on five frequencies, and R Evje on 105.4.

LG-309 Såtenäs; letter, IRC-returned,cov. map in three weeks

SS-420 Malmö-Sturup; letter in three weeks. Same address as AH-417

PAJ-390 Pajala; card from film-set "Populärmusik från Vittula" with ok verification.

Denmark: Anti-QSL from FE-423 Odense-Beldringe....returning all enclosures..but, fair enough.

Israel: IBA Reshet Bet, Akko 927 schedule with the written message "We don´t verify reception reports anymore" Glad to know,haha...but why didn´t he write " Report confirmed" instead; would save ink !

Phew..finally settled in Kristiansand...so now it´s Southern-dx !
Conds not so good on FM, but I guess there will be a e-skip soon or more stabile tropo-cx.

Hello !

No posting lately because of stress and exhaustion,hehe..
Well, I have been busy packing my stuff because of the move to Kristiansand. 900 kms to drive on Wednesday......but I´m looking forward to move. Two jobs already, so I guess DX-activity is slowing down a bit until we´re settled and I got my stuff in to the Tinnheia flat. Looking forward to FM-dx, tropo will give some new stations I´m certain !

Thanks to Pål Olsvik for the only feedback on my request for input - so far - and he´s not even a dx-er ! In fact an old schoolmate from high school..we used to party in the mid 80s...and now it´s the 20 year celebration of our graduation ! (already)

Yesterday came nice e-mail with verification appendix from Kristen Riksradio / TWR, St. Petersburg 1494 kHz. v/s Ingvar Nevland.

Nothing of activity that is worth mentioning, but I got NRK Møre og Romsdal, Reinsfjell on 89.1 MHz with excellent signal. No tropo either, so I guess some other kind of reflection had occured, since this one isn´t heard daily on the Yacht Boy. Also P2 and P3 frequencies + P4 frequency heard of R., plus 94.3 NRK P3 which I suspect is Tron, Hedmark. A pity that NRK Hedmark is so hard to hear - (98.3, local highpower Mosvik is on 98.4...)

UNID Russian on 1386 kHz is Radio Svoboda, heard last night as well. Only transmitter listed is in Khabarovsk, Sibir ! R Free Iraq, Kabd 1593 good before midnight, and R Asia very good at times on 1575 from Ras-al-Khaima. Good 60m signals from India, AIR Ranchi 4960 to mention one.

Last night I heard AIR Jeypore 1467 exceptionally well from s/on 0025 UTC... Nagpur awesome on 1566. Also Iran on 1467 later, came up very good. "Farhang" relayed, perhaps ? But also possible Radio Qom-identification ! On 1386 a Russian station seemingly covered all goodies - but maybe it´s interesting in itself ? Can´t find any ssuitable solutions on this one, with actuality-programme - which I guess means that time zone isn´t that of the European stations ! No one of them as an hour of news features at this time of night (01 UTC-)

SL-532, Bydgoszcz, POL. Nice direct reply, QSL-letter, info, three postcards and also personal letter from v/s Leszek Rypolc, who said that they were surprised to receive a report from Norway. Station is said to be operating `on request´,limited hours.

SM-435, Semenivka, UKR. Letter from V. Maksymenko, who is a DX-friendly man. First Ukrainan beacon verified !

A couple of QSLs in my letterbox the last two days:

R Korea, Skelton relay 3955 card, sch etc in one month.

Kristen Riksradio/TWR, Cerrik, Albania 9435 letter , info after f/up. Blaming the Postal Authority for the f/up...Kr. Riksr. had sent the letter quickly and got it in return - recipient moved... (?) wonder if they´re sane at all ? What else have they returned ????? Grrrr #¤@

Tried some ndbs last night, strange conditions. No other stations except the local ones, and two Polacks :CHO-375 Chochiwel(New logging) and OL-397 Goleniow...nothing from Sweden or Finland. Puzzles me, but similar spot-cx have been experienced earlier. One never knows what to expect ! UNID Arab on 954 kHz also is an enigma yet....too wee hours for Qatar ? logged 0110 UTC-

V/s Per Arne Bersvendsen, who was friendly and asked how to make the verification properly, so I made a suggestion and it came out real good ! gets reports from S & FIN now and then. Also DU and MLV are active NDBs.(371/350 kHz).

Some good ndb activity as well last night ! Still cold and clear- the noise level is moderate to none at times.
No spot-cx., but my guess is that NA was heard by the lucky ones who have the antennae....since I reached so far north myself !

New to me: FOR-318 Forsøl, Hammerfest...and also report to JX-349 Växjö, so the band was wide open.

QSL today ! Nice e-mail from NDB GUN-348 Storuman-Gunnarn,S.
V/s Ivan Forsman states that SUM-x348is now on 116.3
as VOR. He suggests to give it a try....I don´t think that it´s possible, but you´ll never know !

The success in receiving VOR and such NAVAIDs haven´t appeared yet....despite some attempts. I guess the wattage is tiny, but sporadic-e skips have occured here as well. Am I a radio pervert if I say my highest dream is to experience VOR-skip more than 1000 kms away ?

Hello ! LW-conditions are still good, and beacons from Northern and eastern Scandinavia reach my antenna. A new catch was V-406 and as conds stayed up north, H-408 was stabile and very strong at times.. but also eastwards: SAV-351 came real good. No sign of MI-346 unfortunately.

MW wasn´t swept through at all...

Hello ! Some activity last night gave the Polish station on 1395 kHz- yet unidentified...but indications are strong.

Cold and clear weather generally is good for LW, and I managed to hear three new beacons: ATA-358 Alta (below GRK),B-318 Pori-Musa,
and also W-408 Utti.(was logged when KO-400 went S5...)

QSL inbox: Nice e-mail from Radio Søgne,Brennåsen 104.0. Heard in Kristiansand. V/s Frode Bjorvand(who hosted the show I reported to) invited me to the studio when visiting Søgne.

Also letter from Cluj 1404, this time by ordinary mail. Same v/s as earlier. Obviously a very DX-friendly station !

Surprisingly enough some activity last night and way past midnight.
OK signals towards South Sweden in the LW band - and even new beacons heard (new to me), like OEM-363 "Krisjansta" - that´s how the pronounce Kristianstad down there.

Five reports taken,all to NDBs.

MW was moderate, but odd signals heard - like non-stop pop on 1395kHz- I guess it was the Polish newcomer.

R Japan 6030 kHz from Rampisham, UK, card, sch,info. A full data card was highly appreciated..but I still haven´t got Japan verified !

CRI from Chinese tx (I guess ?) 9570...no site mentioned on QSL. Card, postcard....a brilliant answerer as always.

Today also a surprising e-mail from R Cluj; Romania from Sighet-tx on 1404 kHz. Very commonly heard, but QSL was still very unexpected, nice letter and unusually enough on e-mail verifications: The nice station logo ! V/s Florin Pruteanu. R Cluj had Radiojournal Transilvania programme when they were heard in October.(News & feature) It is said that R Sighet has a local outlet here..I don´t know if that one exists- but Cluj wasn´t mentioned to have local broadcast either in the WRTH, so....but now CONFIRMED !

I finally had the time to search the AM, and I don´t think the conds were exactly good...I rather spent an hour listening to the Heavy metal broadcast from Polskie R1, a show that obviously has some distant listeners according to the letters from E Europe that were read during the show. Standard HM, but also new acquaintances from Poland- a good HM following down there it seems. I took a report just for fun...I don´t think I have this transmitter verified? The former tx was victim to hurricanes. Not much interesting on MW, but many open frequencies nowadays.

Back from the south...not much activity there either, but some FM catches that were new to me.

QTH: Kristiansand,N. As expected, DR was heard on many frequencies, and the Mejrup-tx was the stronger, especially on 90.2 MHz. Also Nordjyllands R on 98.1 is a regular catch it seems. Only telescope ax used, so I guess coutries like Germany will pop up later and also become regular when antennae are improved and also a decent tuner is bought. NRK Rogaland heard well on 94.2 and also some local radio is heard daily. Conditions were less than fair during my stay.

Some days of relaxation in Kristiansand now, brought with me my Yacht Boy to pick up some FM transmitters. My first Dane heard today: Nordjyllands Radio on 98.1 MHz from 60kw Aalborg-tx. Also DK on 102.7 MHz. Guess they´re pretty easy caught down here. I will try to get a report written towards the end of the week...

Hello! Low activity, but some dx Wednesday and Saturday night gave some indications of not so exiting conds..somehow, a few finns i the beacon band and also some north Norwegian beacon activity.

Two QSLs came today: R Sawa, Cape Greco 990 kHz and also f/up reply on Sawa 15765 from Briech, MRC.(used last year)

I am going to Kristiansand on Monday, and hopefully will get some time to listen to FM and VHF signals there. Interesting QTH according to EU-VHF/FM signals ! Maybe I will update the pages when staying there.(9 days)

No dx-activity this weeekend.

Some letterbox activity still:

1. RTBF International from Wavre 9970, heard "den ganzen Tag". Plain QSL-card after 2 weeks.

2. VRT R Vlaanderen Int.,via Armavir relay on 7490 kHz, QSL-card,2 sti,sch. in 2 weeks.

3. NDB "COR" Corner,S. 388 kHz. Letter from CAA in Norrköping.
I guess it´s a "en route NDB", and therefore the reports usually are forwarded centrally.

No dx-activity the last two nights.

Two QSLs received:

1. From Locator "B"on 364 kHz in Kittilä,FIN. 100w, according to friendly Mr. R Mätäsaho of Kittilän lentoasema.

2. Finally I managed to get Canada verified...RCI, Sackville 13700 received today,very nice package with R Canada Int. t-shirt and the QSL-card and sticker/schedule. Land #90 in total,what slow progression,haha....

No DX-activity last 24h because of working period. However, QSL by e-mail, and a darn good one,too !

Follow-up from 1995 gave a very friendly letter from Radio Jasenica in Smederavska Palanka on their MW 1566 kHz frequency. v/s is Dragoslav Travica,who tells a bit about the RTV Jasenica-yes,now they have their own TV-station-and about the town of Smederavska Palanka.And Jasenica is the river flowing through the town !

By th way, Radio Jasenica is now only on FM 88.3 kHz. The MW-transmitter is out of order for two months since "the cx3000 lamp burned and right now we can´t find the new one" quote Mr. Travica.

Just came by e-mail : QSL from AFN Kaiserslautern,1107 kHz. Very friendly and nice mail from Dan Robinson,MSgt. He tells he spent four years in Oslo with the old NATO radio-station operating from Østerås. (1988-92)
This was follow-up on cassette report from 10/10-90, heard here in Orkanger.
QTH is said to be Sambach,could that be the fact back in 1990?

Good response on old f/ups sometimes!

Last night- no activity in LW band, a bit better on MW, but not exactly surfing the waves of AM goodies...Noted Libya on 1053 kHz- unusual- in // with the highpowered 1449 kHz.(which is regular,and strong!)up to midnight MEST. Quran resitation. UK absolutely not ship-shape,we blame it on El Sol ! Also 693 kHz gave a extraordinary Arab dominance-no ID heard.(0010- MEST)Possibly Jordan, but all Arabs on 693 kHz are new to me anyway.

QSL today! Truck Radio, Nordkirchen 855 answered in about one month with nice QSL-card,two promo cards and a gemütliches letter.

The worst expectances last night, but after midnight it really didn´t turn out that bad. Noted the usual stations on mw, and some small surprises due to the extreme solar condtions; Galei Zahal was surprisingly strong on the powerhouse 1287- and also Skopje instead of Scotland on 810 kHz.

LW was absolutely white-out, only the Værnes and Ørland beacons heard.(The locals)

Really lousy conditions on mw & lw last night, barely signals at all in the beacon band.
Things to hear, at least, on the shortwaves, but mainly the highpowers. Interesting to hear the various special programmes targeted at the areas the US gov´t can´t cope with at all....
But, honour to them for using shortwave from easily heard relay stations !
R Free Asia is heard well from both Dushanbe and Gavar, and I have picked up Sawa from Cape Greco 990 khz many evenings now.Sawa, Arta, Djibouti very well received through the evening/night on 1431 kHz- and QSL is already here....
Only one QSL last week, from JOK-394 Kauhajoki NDB. QSL-text was "Your knows by JOK are okey."....maybe not the most detailed verification this far, but it will do...
